About the Artist

Artist

‘Art arises from spontaneous emotion – it is crucial simply to respond to your feelings, and not to be puzzled by it.’ Pavel Mitkov, one of the most successful European artists and the strongest representative in the collections of contemporary art, champions an irresistibly natural approach to art. Mitkov’s philosophy of lightness arises from the conviction that his art is there for all the people. The innermost desire of this artist is to show people the surprising beauty of their familiar surroundings. His insights into the magical qualities of familiar streets, the beguiling enchantment of bridges, and the melancholic vivacity of town squares capture a moment of delight and of immersion into the poetic moment for every beholder.

The considerable number of international awards, such as the Salvador – Dali - Award for Art, the Franz – Kafka – Award, the Lomonossow - Award for Fine Art or the Eye Foundation Art Award, make his recognition within the international art scene distinguished. Beside many notable exhibitions [-> see Events] his works have come into the private ownership of Angela Merkel, Vladimir Putin, Hillary Clinton, Pope John Paul II and many other famous personalities.

Born on 16th August 1977 in Sofia, Pavel Mitkov discovered his passion for painting as early as when he was 6-years-old. Motivated by the great success of his exhibitions, which he organised while he was studying economic science, he broke out of the stable career of a highly remunerated economist following his graduation, in order to live for art alone. Passing this passion on to the following generation is a deeply felt desire for Pavel Mitkov. Therefore he also organises numerous exhibitions and competitions for young talent. Through many charitable exhibitions for the benefit of social and medical organisations, even for the youngest members of society, he deliberately allows the socially disadvantaged circles to share the benefits of his success.
